Mommies Make It Better was founded by Kela, a mother who was once a teen mom of two and understands firsthand the power of support, guidance, community, and rest. Her lived experience shaped the heart of MMIB and its commitment to walking alongside mothers as they navigate crisis, rebuild stability, and rediscover their strength.
Mommies Make It Better promotes families to rediscover a new way of living by offering a comprehensive approach centered on connection, healing, and growth. We recognize that mothers are often the primary caregivers—the ones children run to when they are in need, the heartbeat of the home.
Kela earned her Associate Degree in Human Services from Milwaukee Area Technical College and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee with a minor in American Sign Language. Through mentorship, life skills, education, and creating spaces where mothers can simply be, MMIB helps mothers become the best version of themselves because when a mother is nurtured and supported, her whole family thrives.
Being a mother is beautiful, but it can also be heavy. Mothers carry the tears, the schedules, the hugs, the worries, and the dreams—often all at once. Mommies Make It Better exists to remind mothers that they were never meant to pour from an empty cup and that connection, healing, and community make it possible.

More Than: Life Begins Mentorship Program
More Than: Life Begins is a mentorship program designed to support young mothers ages 12–21 as they navigate pregnancy, early motherhood, and the personal growth that comes with it. The program provides guidance, encouragement, and a safe space where participants can reflect, learn, and build confidence in themselves and their parenting journey.
Through meaningful conversations, life skills, mentorship, and community connection, participants are reminded that becoming a mother does not mean their life or future is over—it is simply the beginning of a new chapter. MTLB encourages young mothers to recognize that they are more than their circumstances and that their lives are still full of purpose, possibility, and grow.
Connecting Mothers
Connecting Mothers is a welcoming space for expectant mothers and those navigating the journey of early motherhood. Each month, we gather for honest conversations about identity, support, growth, and the shared experiences of raising children.
A space where mothers can just be.
